CRYSTAL GILLIS

Hi, I’m Crystal! I’m your typical Coloradan but I was raised in Iowa.  I live for the outdoors, climbing, running, biking, snowboarding and hiking my way through life out here.  Just shy of 20 years ago I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa, where I studied Psychology.  During the same season of my life, I also attended cosmetology school.  Since then I have served in every role of the salon industry from stylist to senior manager and now business owner.  I don’t claim to specialize in any one salon service, because I enjoy doing hair... the whole package.  I’ve found through years of practice that I really shine while cutting. I love to problem solve through the process by asking good questions, using visual assessment, and listening to my clients describe who they are and how they want to present themselves. I then craft their individual style to represent their personality, time, fashion, age and lifestyle. I am not married to my ideas and I never claim to be infallible. I want my clients to go out into the wild feeling as though together we have crafted their best vision of themselves.

So when I’m not doing hair in the salon I’m doing it in the backcountry! Yes, you read that right. I am an elopement hair and makeup artist, which means that I can help make you feel beautiful where ever your desire takes you! I understand that its difficult to imagine the logistics of having your hair and makeup done six miles into the backcountry while enjoying a high alpine lake, but I got you. The fun for me is in the problem solving! I love what I do and I don’t believe that creativity should be confined to 4 walls and a power outlet.
